This creative entrepreneur partnered with Alex Klein, of Kano Collabing to develop a stem player that would fully customize the listening experience and made the album exclusively available on the device.

The stem player has the ability to separate and control various parts of a song, create loops and merge stems from other songs.Making it like a compact turntable for listeners but also allowing them to create completely new music of their own.

This innovative approach gave fans the freedom of hearing songs in brand new ways and making music of their own, taking them from consumers to creators.

Freedom was Kanye's goal. Not just for the fans but for himself as well. Kanye said, “Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes, it’s time to free music from this oppressive system,” when asked about only releasing the project on the stem player. The stem player allowed him total control of the release and value of his project. Most importantly, he had full control of his profits. And when it came to profits the numbers speak for themselves: “To earn the $2.2 million we made on the first day with the stem player the album would have had to stream 500 million times,” West shared. “We did more revenue on Stem Player, without the album even being out than it would’ve done streaming.” Kanye's bold move combined creativity with innovation allowing him full control of his art.
